[ARCHIVED] Proclamation: May 12 to 18, 2024 is National Police Week

WHEREAS, police officers embody the highest ideals of service and sacrifice, risking their lives each day to uphold the rule of law, preserve public safety, and safeguard the rights and freedoms of all individuals; and  
WHEREAS, law enforcement officers are the dedicated guardians of our communities, selflessly devoting themselves to protecting and serving with courage, integrity, and honor; and 

WHEREAS, Police Week provides an opportunity to honor the memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, paying tribute to their courage, valor, and selflessness, and expressing gratitude for their profound contributions to our society; and 

WHEREAS, Police week also serves as a time to express appreciation for the unwavering commitment and resilience of law enforcement officers who confront adversity with unwavering resolve, compassion, and empathy and strive to make our communities safer, stronger, and more resilient; and 

WHEREAS, the Town of Trumbull is deeply grateful to the courageous officers of Trumbull, under the leadership of Chief Michael Lombardo, who selflessly put themselves in harm’s way to protect our Town, our families and defend our community;   

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Vicki A. Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut, do hereby proclaim May 12 - 18, 2024, as NATIONAL POLICE WEEK.             

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Town of Trumbull to be affixed on the 12th day of May in the year 2024.
