WHEREAS, Pride Month is a time to celebrate the diversity, resilience, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community, acknowledging their invaluable impact on our society and history; and
WHEREAS, Pride Month commemorates the Stonewall Uprising of June 1969, a pivotal moment in the LGBTQ+ rights movement that sparked a wave of activism and advocacy for equality, justice, and human rights for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity; and
WHEREAS, Pride Month is an opportunity to honor the legacy of LGBTQ+ leaders, activists, and allies who have fought tirelessly for equal rights and social justice, often at great personal risk, and to recognize the ongoing struggle for full equality and acceptance; and
WHEREAS, during Pride Month, we reaffirm our commitment to the principles of dignity, respect, and inclusivity, standing against discrimination, prejudice, and violence in all its forms, and promoting a society where everyone can live authentically and freely; and
WHEREAS, Pride Month encourages us to educate ourselves and others about the issues facing the LGBTQ+ community, fostering greater understanding, acceptance, and support through dialogue, visibility, and celebration of our shared humanity.
NOW THEREFORE I, Vicki A. Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut do hereby proclaim June 2024 as LGBTQ+ PRIDE MONTH
