WHEREAS, School Nurse Day, celebrated on May 7, 2025, recognizes and honors the vital contributions of school nurses in promoting the health, safety, and academic success of students across the nation; and
WHEREAS, school nurses are highly skilled, compassionate healthcare professionals who serve as the first line of care in schools, addressing a wide range of physical and mental health needs with professionalism and empathy; and
WHEREAS, school nurses play a critical role in managing chronic conditions, administering medications, providing emergency care, conducting health screenings, and responding to the ever-changing health needs of students and school communities; and
WHEREAS, school nurses also serve as educators, advocates, and trusted liaisons between families, schools, and healthcare providers, ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed both in the classroom and in life; and
WHEREAS, during times of public health challenges, school nurses have demonstrated extraordinary leadership and adaptability, ensuring the well-being of students and staff while reinforcing the importance of health education and prevention; and
WHEREAS, the work of school nurses enhances the educational experience and contributes to a safe, healthy school environment for all;
NOW THEREFORE I, Vicki A. Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut do hereby proclaim May 7, 2025 as School Nurse Day .
