[ARCHIVED] Update: Electric Bike Operator Struck By Vehicle Remains Critical

Update 7/11/25: The motor vehicle accident that occurred in Trumbull has caused life-threatening injuries to the electric bike operator who was struck on Main Street last night.  The fifteen (15) year-old Trumbull boy was operating an electric bike Southerly on Main Street, near Whitney Avenue, when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling in the Northbound lane.  The collision caused serious injuries to the boy.  The Trumbull man who was driving the car was the only occupant of the vehicle and was not injured.  He remained on scene to offer his full cooperation with police during the investigation.  The identities of those involved remain to be withheld.

 



The Trumbull, Fairfield, and Westport Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit are continuing the investigation to determine the details of the accident. No charges have been filed at this time.

Original Posted 7/10/25: Trumbull Police were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving an Electric Bike on Main Street (Route 111) in Trumbull, near the intersection of Whitney Avenue. The crash involves serious injuries to the bike operator, and the roadway in this area had been closed for several hours.

The Trumbull Police received several 911 calls, on Thursday, July 10, at approximately 6:45 PM, reporting a single motor vehicle striking a bike operator on Main Street near Whitney Avenue. The vehicle then came to rest in the roadway after receiving heavy damage, and serious injuries to the bike operator.

First responding Trumbull police officers rendered medical aid to the victim and secured the scene. Trumbull EMS arrived on scene to treat and eventually transport the victim to an area hospital.

The Trumbull, Fairfield, and Westport Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating this incident. The cause of the accident and severity of injuries

have not been determined at this time. The identities of those involved are being withheld at this time. The area of Main Street and Whitney Avenue has been reopened.
