With the November 4, 2025 municipal election approaching, here are some important rules regarding the placement of election-related signs within the Town of Trumbull. These rules, as well as others, can be found in Section 14-8 of the Trumbull Municipal Code. These rules apply to candidate, political party, and referendum signs.
Anyone wishing to post a sign on property owned by an individual or business must obtain the owner’s permission before posting. Signs must not be erected on Town of Trumbull or State of Connecticut property.
Signs may not be posted more than 45 days prior to Election Day (which is September 20 this year) and must be removed within five days after Election Day.
The Zoning Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing this ordinance, and enforcement can include fines and/or removal of signs.
