[ARCHIVED] 7/25/2016 - Trumbull Citizen Alert: Town Property Purchase

7/25/16: Trumbull Citizen Alert Call made to residents on Church Hill Road and in the Tait’s Mill Road area.

Good afternoon, this is First Selectman Tim Herbst calling with an important message.  Please do not hang up.

I wanted to make residents of the Church Hill Road area aware that the Trumbull Town Council will be considering the purchase of two homes across from the Trumbull Town Hall and the Trumbull Library.  All acquisitions have been voluntary by the sellers and these purchases received bipartisan support from the Town Council and were approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission last week.  Our Pequonnock River Trail has 6,000 users a week during peak seasons and the parking in the area of Taits Mill Road and also on Whitney Avenue has presented serious safety issues for trail users and traffic congestion in our residential neighborhoods.

In addition, our Library currently does not have enough parking to meet present demands.  The Town has determined that these properties can provide another mode of access to the Pequonnock River Trail and also handle overflow parking for our Library.  This will go a long way toward addressing safety issues and providing better trail access to our residents and improved parking for our library.

If you have any additional questions, please call my office at (203) 452-5005 or via email at firstselectman@trumbull-ct.gov, so I can speak to you personally and answer any questions you might have.

This is First Selectman Tim Herbst.  Thank you for listening.
