[ARCHIVED] Please Support the Trumbull Food Pantry

Please Support the Trumbull Food Pantry

The Trumbull Food Pantry is located at The Center at Priscilla Place, 23 Priscilla Place, off of Huntington Turnpike near the Bunny Fountain and the Fairfield-Nichols Library.

The Food Pantry is made available to Trumbull Residents who meet the state's financial criteria for public assistance. Eligibility is determined by the Trumbull Department of Social Services, located at the same address. Families or singles interested in becoming pantry clients should call (203) 452-5198 to set up an appointment to come in to determine eligibility. Potential clients must show identification and at least one piece of mail with a Trumbull address. Upon being deemed eligible, the client is welcome to come in and "shop" 1-2 times per month. Appointments are necessary, and the standard pantry hours are 10 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

The Trumbull Food Pantry is able to exist almost solely through donations from individuals and groups throughout the community. Trumbull residents are an exceptionally generous group; we receive many donations from them throughout the year. However, we can always use more. The number of families using the pantry has changed drastically over the last few years as more and more people struggle to feed themselves and their families. In 2010, the pantry supplied food and toiletries to over 80 households, and more and more people are calling every day.

Please consider making a difference and donating to the food pantry. Whether you are an individual who just buys a few extra things while you are at the supermarket, or a church group that runs a large food drive, every little bit helps. Many students from the Trumbull schools have collected for us throughout the year as well. Recently a THS senior came by with over 2 carts of food that he had collected at his own graduation party in lieu of gifts. He represents perfectly the generosity that we see year after year from our Town residents.

If you wish to donate to the food pantry, we happily accept any non-perishable food item, paper products, such as paper towels and toilet paper, and toiletries, such as shampoo, soap etc. A list of most needed items can be obtained by calling our office. Gift cards from local stores are always very welcome. They enable families to buy items we are unable to stock, such as meat, dairy and medicines.

Donations can be dropped off at The Center at Priscilla Place during building hours, which are 9 am to 4 pm. If you are dropping off a large donation, feel free to call (203) 452-5198 and one of our staff will come down and lend you a hand.

Trumbull is an exceptional place to live, with many residents always willing to lend a hand. Let's keep that trend going by feeding families who are in need. Thank you.
