Help Aquarion Name Environmental Champions!

Every day, thousands of people, companies and non-profit organizations throughout Connecticut spend untold amounts of time and energy working voluntarily on environmental projects. Their passion for our planet translates into cleaner water and air, fertile soils providing fresh, local farm goods, and safe habitat for the plants and wildlife that help keep everything in balance.

Now it’s time to honor these efforts. This coming June, Aquarion Water Company will announce the winner of its Environmental Champion Awards at a special event at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo. Winners will be named in three categories, each bringing a monetary award:

  • Adult: $2500 grant to the environmental non-profit of the winner’s choice

  •
  • Student (grade 9-12): $1000 savings bond

  •
  • Business and/or non-profit: $2500 grant to the environmental non-profit of the winner’s choice

“As a company with an enormous commitment to clean water and a healthy environment, we’re delighted at the chance to spotlight the individuals and organizations who provide incalculable amounts of time, talent and energy to environmental initiatives of every type,” noted Chuck Firlotte, Aquarion CEO. Awards will go to Champions whose volunteer projects have protected and improved our state’s natural resources – its water, air, soils, and plant and wildlife communities. You’ll find nomination forms plus award guidelines and tips at www.aquarion.com/environment.cfm.

The deadline for entries is May 2, 2011. So check out the web page today and then send us your nomination (we welcome self-nominations, too!). And help gain some worthy recognition and rewards for those working hard to green-up Connecticut even more.
