On Wednesday January 23, 2019, the Trumbull Police Department promoted Sergeant Donald Allen to the rank of Lieutenant.
The promotion follows the recent promotions of four other officers to the ranks of Sergeant and Lieutenant in December. The promotions were necessary following the recent retirement of several ranking officers over the past year.
Lt. Donald Allen started his career with the Trumbull Police Department in January 2001, after completing his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Quinnipiac University. In January 2013, Lt. Allen was promoted to Detective. In October of 2013, he was promoted to Sergeant. As a Sergeant, he was assigned as a shift supervisor. He is a Field Training Officer (FTO), Honor Guard member, a member and instructor for the South West Emergency Response Team (SWERT) and Firearms Instructor for the department.
Lt. Allen has been supported along the way by his loving family, including his parents, his wife Heather, and daughters Aprile and Ashlie. He was pinned by his daughters, Aprile and Ashlie.
Trumbull Police Department is currently authorized for eighty-one police officers overall. The selection process is now underway in an effort to hire more personnel to fill existing vacancies for entry level Patrol Officers.
