For Immediate Release

AQUARION TO IMPROVE PUMP STATION IN EASTON

Customers in Easton, Monroe, Shelton and Trumbull May Notice Discolored Water

BRIDGEPORT, CT: May 9, 2008 – Aquarion Water Company of Connecticut today announced that it will begin work at its Buck Hill Pump Station on Tuesday, May 13 to improve the reliability of pumping water to meet greater demand during high peak periods.

The work is expected to last one week and will involve the installation of new auxiliary valves and require a shutdown of the facility for a short duration.

Initially, during the first few hours of the shutdown, there is the potential for water discoloration to residents of Easton, Monroe, Shelton and Trumbull as work may cause a temporary disturbance of flow patterns resulting in slightly discolored water due to the disturbance of naturally occurring minerals (iron and manganese) that have settled in the water mains over time.

Aquarion advises its customers to store cold tap water in the refrigerator for drinking and cooking. Also, please check the condition of the water before washing clothes, and if discolored, delay laundry until the water is clear. For any questions, please call our Customer Service number at (203) 445-7310.
