Below you will find information that might help you understand how to find things or learn about information you might need to know about your city or town.

  • Election Day is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Election Day 2025 will be November 4, 2025 from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

  • Early Voting will occur from October 20, 2025 through, November 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (with Tuesday, October 28, 2025, and Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM).

  • Registered voters can request an absentee ballot between October 3, 2025, and November 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

    The Town Clerk's office is responsible for processing applications for Absentee Ballots, sending ballots to approved voters, and receiving completed ballots. To obtain an absentee ballot please visit the Absentee Voting page and complete the application and return it to the Town Clerk's office.

  • Any citizen who will be 18 or older on Election Day is eligible to vote.

  • Visit the State of Connecticut’s Voter Registration Lookup at https://portaldir.ct.gov/sots/LookUp.aspx to see if you are registered to vote.

  • To register to vote, you can:

    1. Fill out the mail-in voter registration form or register online at via the State of Connecticut Online Voter Registration System, until 8:00 PM on October 17, 2025. 
    2. Visit the Registrar of Voters' office (first floor of Town Hall, 5866 Main Street) from Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM until October 17, 2025, or from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on October 17, 2025.
    3. Visit a Department of Motor Vehicles location during business hours until October 17, 2025.
    4. Visit the Trumbull Library Main Branch at 33 Quality Street during Early Voting hours. Voters may register at the Library on the day they vote.
    5. Visit the Trumbull Election Day Registration site (which is also the Election Day Registration voting site) in the Town Hall Council Chambers (mezzanine level of Town Hall, 5866 Main Street) between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM on November 4, 2025.

  • A voter would need to re-register if:

    1.  their residency changes. Voters can only vote where they live.
    2. their name changes.
    3. they would like to change their party affiliation.
    4. they do not vote in an election within a 4-year timeframe.

  • Visit the Registration Requirements page to find information about your voting rights when you move out of Trumbull, to another part of Trumbull, temporary moves, or moving out of the country.

  • Residents can find their polling location using the State of Connecticut's Voter Registration Look-up database.

    Alternatively, voters can find their residence on the Voting District Map (PDF) of Voting District by Street List (PDF) and use the district number to identify their voting location on the polling places listed.

    Voters will receive a postcard in the mail in advance of the election listing your polling place's name and address.

    Early Voting

    Voters who wish to participate in early voting from October 20, 2025, to November 2, 2025, can vote in the Trumbull Library Community Room, 33 Quality Street.

  • The Town does not provide transportation to the polls. Voters who live at Stern Village and those who make arrangements through the Trumbull Senior Center can ride the senior bus at around 10:30 AM. 

    The Democratic and Republican Parties can also be contacted to provide volunteer transportation for you.

  • The Town Clerk's office is responsible for processing applications for Absentee Ballots, sending ballots to approved voters, and receiving completed ballots. To obtain an absentee ballot please visit the Absentee Voting page and complete the application and return it to the Town Clerk's office.

  • Yes, an absentee ballot application form can be picked up for family members.

  • Usually no. Exceptions are made is if a voter in your family suddenly falls ill and is hospitalized between 5:00 PM on November 3, 2025, and the close of the polls at 8:00 PM on November 4, 2025.

  • Absentee ballots can only be counted if the ballot is returned inside two sealed envelopes: an inner envelope that is signed and dated by the voter, and an outer envelope with the Town Clerk’s address on the front. Once the ballot is marked, signed, dated, and sealed in the inner envelope, and sealed in the outer envelope, the ballot may be:

    1. mailed to the Town Clerk’s office: 5866 Main Street, Trumbull, CT 06611.
    2. dropped into the Absentee Ballot box located outside Town Hall near the brick walk entrance.
    3. submitted to the Town Clerk's office at Town Hall (5866 Main Street).

    Voters who apply for an absentee ballot in person after October 4, 2025, can fill out and return the ballot to the Town Clerk's office before leaving Town Hall.

  • To be eligible to vote via absentee ballot, voters must be unable to get to their polling place because of at least one of these factors:

    • Disability
    • Illness
    • Active service in the U.S. Armed Forces
    • Absence from town during all of the hours of voting
    • Religious rules forbidding secular activity on election day
    • Being assigned to a polling place other than your own during all of the hours of voting

  • Identification is required.

     Any preprinted form of identification with your name and address, name and signature, or name and photo. Examples include:

    • driver's license
    • non-driver DMV ID
    • United States Passport
    • student ID
    • photo ID from work
    • credit card if signed
    • paycheck

  • The Assistant Registrar of Voters at the polling place can supply an affidavit of identity, which you can sign (under penalty of false statement). However, the affidavit is NOT available if you registered without showing ID and have never voted before.

  • Yes. The helper can be a family member, a friend, a caregiver, or anyone who isn't your boss at work or your union shop steward.

  • Yes. Please ask for assistance from the poll moderator or an Assistant Registrar of Voters.

  • Yes, but please be careful not to leave it where other voters can see it.

  • If the ballot is filled out incorrectly, voters can return the ballot to the ballot clerk and ask them to provide a replacement.

  • There are two possibilities:

    1. The machine couldn't read your ballot and thought it was completely blank. In that case your best choice is to take the ballot back to a marking booth and mark it more clearly with black ink, or use the ballot-marking machine available at every polling place.

    or

    1. You voted for too many candidates for one or more races. In that case, take your ballot back to the ballot clerk and request a new one.

  • The tabulator tender can show you a slot at the side of the stand that holds the machine, and you can slide your ballot into the side slot. After the polls close, all ballots in the side bin will be counted, and non-mistaken votes will be credited.

  • No. As long as you vote for at least one candidate (or at least one ballot question) your ballot will be counted.

  • Absolutely not. The voter can choose which party line to mark.

  • Yes, you can, but your multiple marks for that candidate will only count as one vote.

  • Yes, and if they’re under 16, they can watch you vote. Older children are supposed to wait in the hall.

  • No. When someone votes early or by absentee ballot, their name is marked on the polling place check-in list as no longer able to get another ballot, and one will not be given to them.
