The library has several free research tools available. Please have your Trumbull Library Card ready. You will need the barcode number on the back to sign into some of these databases.
Automotive
ChiltonLibrary offers car repair and maintenance information as well as diagrams for most domestic and imported models, in some cases as far back as 1940.
Business & Finance
Entrepreneurship provides access to key scholarship, tools, and resources to help entrepreneurs and students navigate the complex world of small business. It contains a diverse collection of resources including journals, industry reports, video clips, “how to” books, templated forms, business plan samples, and more.
Morningstar Investment Research Center is the online version of the no-longer-in-print Morningstar Mutual Funds. It has been expanded to also cover stocks, securities and ETFs. This database can be used by only one patron at a time.
Value Line Investment Survey is the online version of Value Line Investment Survey and lets you research stocks, companies, and industries with “Ratings and Reports” and other analytical features.
Career
JobNow is a free job coaching service that offers resume assistance, career resources, and live advice. Unlike simple editing services for resumes, or static databases for job-seekers, the JobNow Suite provides on-demand access to live expert coaches for every state of a patron’s job search. LearningExpress helps students and adult learners improve skills required for academic, career and personal success. Resources include: prep tests for a variety of occupational jobs (including CDL), a job and career center (includes resume builder), GED test prep, computer skills, resources for Spanish language speakers, workplace skills, and resources to pursue US Citizenship.
Genealogy
Ancestry Library Edition allows users to search for census records, birth and death records, marriage records, passenger lists and more. This database can only be used while in the library.
Lifelong Learning
Mango Languages is a free language learning resource that offers courses in over 70 languages, including 20 source languages for patrons learning English, and American Sign Language. Mango also has a component for children called Little Pim, which offers 12 languages. Patrons can create an account or use Mango as a guest, but both options require a Trumbull library card. Mango is also available as an app on the App Store and Google Play.
Universal Class is a free resource that offers over 600 courses in over 35 diverse subject areas, including Crafts & Hobbies, Career Training, DIY, Parenting, Pet Care, Test Prep, and Web Development. America's News allows users to explore and stay informed on local and national topics, people, and events in areas such as business, health, education, jobs & careers, political & social issues and more. Features a wide variety of credible, vetted news sources from across Connecticut and spanning the U.S.
Christian Science Monitor

Connecticut Post allows users to explore local news and events. Search current and archived issues with full-color newspaper pages, full-text articles and content only published online.

MasterFILE Premier contains full text for general reference magazines and publications covering a wide range of subject areas including business, health, education, general science and multicultural issues. It also includes 55,000 full-text primary source documents and more than 2 million photos, maps and flags.

Newspaper Source Plus offers full text for nearly 500 U.S. newspapers and more than 600 international newspapers.
Trumbull Times allows users to search full-text articles on local news, issues, events, people and more from current and archived issues of The Trumbull Times. Click on the link and search for Trumbull Times.

FindIT CT is a catalog that allows users to search for books and other materials located at libraries throughout CT.
Library Speakers Consortium streams a live virtual author talk two to three times a month to member libraries. These talks feature bestselling, award-winning, and highly acclaimed authors from around the world. Register online for upcoming events, and receive a link to the livestream in your email inbox. You also have the opportunity to submit your question for the author when you fill out the registration form!
NoveList Plus suggests authors and titles similar to ones you’ve already enjoyed and recommends books by genre, subject, character, setting and time period. To learn more, check out our Quick Start Guide.
Research
Britannica Online Library Edition is actually two databases in one – Britannica Kids for children and Britannica Reference Center for adults and older students – which makes it great for both homework assignments and general information. Encyclopaedia Britannica, first published in 1768, is no longer available in print.
Consumer Reports enables consumers to make better purchasing decisions on the products they are shopping for. Consumers Union (CU) is an expert, independent, nonprofit organization whose mission is to work for a fair, just, and safe marketplace for all consumers and to empower consumers to protect themselves.
