[ARCHIVED] 2023-06-01: Trumbull Mall & Trumbull High School Senior Parade

Town of Trumbull Seal

Good Evening, this is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro. I hope everyone is doing well!

I have two important announcements to share this evening. The first is about the Trumbull Mall and the second is about the Trumbull High School Senior Parade.

Regarding the Trumbull Mall, we continue to work with the new owners on key issues including security and maintenance. Chief Lombardo, Assistant Chief Byrnes, and other town key staff joined me yesterday in a productive meeting with the Chief Operating Officer, Regional Manager, and head of Government affairs for the mall. They have hired 4 additional security staff. They are increasing training of their staff and will be announcing by early July, details regarding weekend restrictions for youth under 18 as other malls have done. These are important steps, and we will continue to communicate regularly to address these and other important issues.

We are pleased to be hosting our first community session for the Trumbull Mall Area Market Feasibility and Land Use Study at the mall on June 20 from 4-7pm. Details can be found on the town website. This study will help set the course for the future and attract investment to the area. The new mall owners have been highly engaged in the process. We hope you will share your ideas and be a part of the success of the area.

Congratulations to all our graduates from our elementary, middle, and high schools. The community is proud of all of you!

In celebration of the Trumbull High School Class of 2023, the graduates will participate in the "Eagle Final FlyThru!" on Sunday, June 4th. This event has become an annual tradition for our Trumbull High School seniors. All graduates are invited to meet at the Trumbull Mall on Sunday, June 4th at 9:00 AM to caravan through Trumbull together as a class, culminating in a final sweep through the Trumbull High campus. The graduates will leave the Trumbull Mall at 10 AM sharp, exiting onto Madison Ave. They will proceed to Lake Ave, Main Street, Whitney Ave, Daniels Farm Rd., Strobel Road, and then enter Trumbull High School through the main entrance. A note to participants of the FlyThru – normal driving rules apply – everyone must have a seatbelt, and no one is allowed in pickup beds while vehicles are moving. People who live along the route are encouraged to cheer our graduates as they pass. Banging pots and pans to cheer have become part of this tradition over the years. The town has worked with the organizers and is supporting this event. The Trumbull Police will be escorting our Trumbull High School Seniors with the Trumbull Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services showing their support as well. The route for this procession is posted on the Town website, www.trumbull-ct.gov

Trumbull Day festivities and carnival will be held on the field behind Hillcrest Middle School, beginning Friday, June 30th , from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM and continue Saturday, July 1st , from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, closing with the fireworks display. For more information, please see the Town website, https://www.trumbull-ct.gov/413/Trumbull-Day

Have a great weekend! Thanks for listening.
