Good Evening,

This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important COVID-19 update:

Free Covid-19 Drive-Thru Testing is being offered by Griffin Hospital every Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 3 PM at the Trumbull Health Department, 335 White Plains Road. You will enter through Unity Park Road. This testing site is open to Trumbull and non-Trumbull residents. No appointment is necessary, and results are available in 24-48 hours. Please bring a valid I.D. Please see flyer for more information. https://www.trumbull-ct.gov/DocumentCenter/View/4690/Griffin-community-flyer-trumbull2?bidId=

As of last Thursday, Trumbull's test positivity rate was 7.4%. Our total cases are now at 1,011 and sadly 3 of our residents have passed away since this surge began.

Our Health Department is meeting with State and local health partners to prepare for the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. The first phase, Phase 1A of the vaccinations will begin shortly. This phase includes heath care personnel and then Long Term Care Facility residents. These individuals are being vaccinated by the hospitals.

Our Health Department is ready to receive the vaccine. All of our protocols and procedures are in place and we are in standby mode.

We hope to receive the Moderna vaccine for distribution to our critical workforce, other congregate settings, adults 65 and over, and people who are at high risk under 65, which is Phase 1B within the next 2 weeks.

In order to provide the community with more information I will be holding a virtual COVID-19 Vaccine Town Hall meeting with our Heath Director and our Chief of EMS on Tuesday, December 22nd at 6 PM. More information about this meeting will be available soon. You can watch this meeting live or it can be replayed at your convenience.

Please see information about "Who is Vaccinated First" from the CDC. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/recommendations

Please make checks payable to "Trumbull Human Services" 100% of your donation goes directly to helping meet the needs of Trumbull residents.

Please remain vigilant in dealing with this virus by continuing to practice social distancing and following the Governor's executive orders that require all residents to wear a mask or a cloth face covering when in public and a six-foot distance is unavoidable, whether indoors or outdoors. This does not apply to anyone for whom doing so would be contrary to their health because of a medical condition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPx1yqvJgf4

During these difficult times please check on your elderly neighbors.

If you or anyone you know is struggling to purchase food or can't get to the store, please contact Social Services 203-452-5198 for this and other services.

We are watching the potential for a major snow storm later in the week. Please keep an eye on local weather forecasts.

As we all know today is the anniversary of the Sandy Hook tragedy. Let’s keep in our thoughts and prayers the families and all those who suffered and continue to suffer in the aftermath of that horrible tragedy.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation during these challenging times.

Stay well and stay safe.

 Thanks for listening!
