2026 Revaluation

A revaluation program is undertaken to secure a more equitable distribution of the tax burden, to bring the assessment level up to date, and to modernize assessment procedures. The purpose is to ensure uniformity in real property valuations by eliminating inequities that may have developed since the previous revaluation.

The last revaluation was completed in 2021. As required by Connecticut law, municipalities must conduct a revaluation every five years. The Connecticut Office of Policy and Management (OPM) has updated the statewide revaluation schedule for Trumbull to 2025; however, the State granted to defer Trumbull’s 2025 revaluation to 2026.

The Town of Trumbull has contracted Vision Government Solutions to assist with the upcoming 2026 town-wide revaluation. Vision’s Appraisal Division will work in close partnership with the Tax Assessor’s office to ensure a successful and accurate revaluation process.

Residential Property Owners

Data mailers have been sent to all owners of residential properties in mid-November 2025.

Please take a moment to:

  • Review the information included in your mailer carefully
  • Verify the current Outbuilding and Extra Feature details for your property, which are also available on the Vision Goverment Solutions website at https://gis.vgsi.com/trumbullct
  • Note any changes or corrections directly on the mailer
  • Sign and return the mailer, even if no changes are necessary, by December 15, 2025, to:
    Vision Government Solutions Inc.
    1 Cabot Road, Suite 100
    Hudson, MA 01749
    or Email to mailbox1@vgsi.com

Your participation helps ensure the accuracy of the upcoming revaluation.

Property Inspections

Per state law, every property must be fully inspected at least once every ten (10) years. A "full inspection" is defined as either an interior inspection or the receipt of a completed data mailer questionnaire deemed acceptable by the Assessor.

Beginning the week of January 12, 2026, data collectors Bob Hutwelker and Conner Dagel will be conducting commercial property inspections throughout the Town of Trumbull.  Inspectors will carry:

  • A photo ID badge
  • A letter of introduction signed by the Trumbull Assessor
  • A vehicle with an "Assessor’s Office" magnetic sign

If you are not home at the time of the visit, the inspector will conduct an exterior inspection, which includes evaluating building size, condition, construction quality, topography, utilities, and other key characteristics. You may later receive a letter requesting an appointment for an interior inspection

Under C.G.S. Sec. 12-62(b)(4), the Assessor may accept a completed data mailer in place of an interior inspection. Your participation in this process helps ensure accuracy and may prevent additional follow-up.

Property Photos

It’s common for property photos to be taken during a revaluation year. This may be done by data collectors or by the Tax Assessor's office. Additionally, independent appraisers sometimes take photos of recently sold properties for use in “comparable sales” analysis.

If you have any questions, please contact the Tax Assessor's Office at (203) 452‑5016.

Thank you to all residents of Trumbull for your cooperation and support throughout this important process.
