Good Evening,
This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important update.
On Monday, June 8th the Board of Finance set the mill rate. I am pleased to report that there will be no tax increase this year. This will help homeowners and commercial businesses alike in this very challenging environment. Tax bills will be mailed within the next week.
Please visit the Town website for information about the tax deferment program in place for your July 1st tax payments. https://www.trumbull-ct.gov/280/Tax-Collector
Even though Town Hall will be open for in-person payment of taxes beginning on July 1st, we are still encouraging taxpayers to pay your taxes online or by mail. https://www.trumbull-ct.gov/285/Online-Tax-InquiryPayment-System
I am also pleased to announce that for the first time park stickers will be included with your tax bills. We believe this will improve the process and make it easier for our residents to visit our parks. More details on this initiative will be posted on the P& R website soon.
The reopening of our Town spaces and buildings is being accomplished in an orderly fashion to protect the health and safety of the public and our Town employees.
Trumbull Town Hall will reopen on Wednesday, July 1st on a staggered basis for employees and by appointment only for the public until further notice. Detailed information on the reopening of all town buildings including the library and Senior Center will be available soon as will information for the public on how to schedule appointments. This information will be posted on the Town website and Facebook pages.
The library on Quality Street will offer curbside pickup service beginning June 22nd, Monday through Friday from 1 PM to 6 PM. This service will provide the public with needed access to the physical collections while the library staff receives necessary training and buildings are modified for the public.
The Parks and Recreation Department is finalizing details for their summer offerings. Our pools will open in early July as well as our modified camp program. A list of summer programs will be available on the Town Website soon.
Our parks, school properties, tennis and pickleball courts, the Pequonnock River Trails, and the golf course are all open with guidelines and rules. Effective June 17th, we will reopen our athletic fields. Many of our fields have previously, and will continue to, require a permit in order to use them. A list of all fields and their status will be available on the Parks and Recreation website.
All programs, and facilities including public pools are subject to the regulations and guidance under the Governor’s Executive Orders presently in place. These regulations are complex so we thank you for your patience as we work to ensure that our facilities and programs are safe for the community and comply with all such orders.
Phase 2 of the Governor’s reopening plan will begin on Wednesday, June 17th. Some of the businesses that will reopen in this phase include hotels, restaurants, museums, zoos, aquariums, movie theaters, nail salons, gyms, and fitness centers. For a complete list of all the businesses and the rules, regulations, and guidance for these openings please visit the Town website.
I want to thank Social Services for their continued assistance to members of our community.
Donations of food and monetary contributions are needed at the Food Pantry. Please visit the Food Pantry web page or call 203-452-5136 for more information on how you can donate.
In my earlier call this afternoon I congratulated the graduating students in our Trumbull Public School system. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the graduates of the fine private and parochial schools that call Trumbull Home, St. Theresa’s, St. Catherine’s, Christian Heritage, and St. Joseph High School. And all those Trumbull students graduating from other institutions in the area I congratulate them as well.
I appreciate your continued cooperation and patience.
Happy Flag Day!
Please stay safe and stay well.
Thanks for listening!
