The Importance of Immunizations
Contact the Trumbull Health Department for an Appointment
The Trumbull Health Department wants to remind the community of the importance of immunizations. We offer vaccines for preschoolers, school-aged children, college students and adults. Vaccines play a crucial role in preventing disease and ensuring long-term health.
"Many illnesses can be prevented with a vaccination, said Luci Bango, Trumbull Health Department Director of Health. "Ensure you and your family are safe from illness this year by making sure vaccinations are up to date."
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), immunization is one of the most successful and cost-effective health interventions, preventing millions of deaths every year. From infants to seniors, immunization protects against diseases such as diphtheria, measles, pertussis (whooping cough), pneumonia, polio, rotavirus, rubella and tetanus. The benefits of immunization are increasingly being extended to adolescents and adults, providing protection against life-threatening diseases such as influenza, meningitis, and cancers (cervical and liver cancers).
The vaccines offered at Trumbull Health Department vary depending on the season. Some of the vaccines offered are::
- Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (DTaP)
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Influenza
- Meningitis ACWY
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Polio
- Varicella (Chickenpox)
- COVID-19 (Moderna)
Most insurances are accepted.
All vaccines for kids 18 years and under are FREE in Connecticut. Just an administration fee is allowed to be charged. This administration fee is billed to insurance. For those 18 years and under without insurance, a nominal administration fee of $21 will be charged for the first vaccine and $5 will be charged for each additional vaccine during the same visit. For those 19 years of age and older without insurance, we charge for the cost of the vaccine and a vaccine administration fee. For insured adults 19 years of age older, the cost of the vaccine and administration fee are billed to insurance.
COVID-19 vaccines are also covered by insurance or for a fee of $150 without insurance. Cash, check or credit card are accepted. Call the Trumbull Health Department at 203-452-1030 (ext. 0) to schedule an appointment or for the immunization fee schedule.
