Enhancing Quality of Life for Our Residents
The Mary J. Sherlach Counseling Center is a department of the Town of Trumbull, committed to enhancing the well-being of our community by providing professional, compassionate, and confidential mental health services. We offer a safe and supportive environment for individual, family, and group therapy, as well as crisis intervention and youth support programs.

Who We Serve
Counseling services are available to:
- Trumbull residents
- Town of Trumbull employees
- Students attending Trumbull schools
All services are confidential. Fees are determined using a sliding scale based on family income and ability to pay.

Counseling Goals
Common goals of treatment include:
- Addressing attention deficit and behavioral challenges in children
- Improving parent-child relationships
- Supporting adolescents and families through concerns such as divorce, domestic conflict, or juvenile court involvement
- Individual and family psychotherapy
Team-Based Approach: With your consent, our counselors collaborate with parents, schools, healthcare providers, and other support systems to ensure a comprehensive, client-centered approach to care.
Diversionary Services
Our Diversionary Services aim to support at-risk youth and their families, including:
- Operation of the Juvenile Review Board (for minor, first-time offenses)
- Truancy Services to address school attendance issues
- Support for families managing beyond-control behavior in teens
MJSCC Trumbull Tutoring Service
The Mary J. Sherlach Counseling Center offers tutoring for Trumbull youth at no cost or at a reduced fee based on a sliding scale, made possible through funding from a Youth Services Bureau state grant.
Students are matched with tutors based on individual needs and availability.
