The Trumbull Senior Center provides transportation to Trumbull residents, age 60 and over and/or age 55-59 and disabled. Rides are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Appointments are scheduled on a first come first serve basis by calling 203-452-5137.
Rides are for those traveling to and from:
Personal needs (Bank, Beauty, Etc.)
The Senior Center
We travel to Bridgeport, Stratford, Shelton, and Monroe. Grocery shopping is offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to the Trumbull Stop and Shop.
The Shuttle Loop
On Thursdays, the Senior Center offers "The Shuttle Loop" which offers riders a choice of over 10 locations for shopping. Estimated pick up time from the Senior Center is between 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Shop for one hour. Please call 203-452-5137 to schedule an appointment.
How to Ride
All riders must be independent; caregivers are welcome to accompany riders. All buses are equipped with a wheelchair lift. Service animals and assistive devices welcome. Please be aware that the senior center does not provide assistance to and from the vehicle.
Senior Center Membership is not required but all riders must register with the office staff. There is no cost for transportation, however, donations are gratefully accepted. All donations should be brought into the Senior Center office.
The Center at Priscilla Place (Trumbull Senior Center) is CLOSED until further notice. This is in consideration of the well-being of the vulnerable and high-risk population being served. We are closely monitoring the recommendations of the CDC, state and local officials and will keep our members informed as things evolve. The Center's Lunch Program is also CLOSED until further notice. Transportation: For residents needing rides to doctor appointments we are working with GBT for single passenger roundtrip assistance. Please be sure your doctor’s office has not cancelled that appointment before scheduling transportation with us. (203) 452-5199
The Trumbull Food Pantry is available to all Trumbull residents who meet income guidelines or are facing food insecurity. We do not turn anyone away. We encourage residents to reach out who may be facing an unexpected circumstance such as a layoff, illness or have concerns going to the store. During difficult times, we want to reduce the stress our families face by meeting a basic need. The Food Pantry is delivering groceries and Home Delivered Meals in lieu of the Congregate Senior Lunch Program to seniors and others in need. Income restrictions do not apply. Anyone is eligible. Please call (203) 452-5136 for assistance. We are currently offering drive-thru services to any resident in need of food or personal items. If you or anyone you know is struggling to purchase food or not able to get to the store, please contact Social Services. All calls, deliveries and pickups are confidential. We are able to assist families, children, adults, and seniors. Drive thru services and shopping are by appointment only to ensure the confidentiality of the shopper. Holiday Donations: This holiday season we are not accepting food donations or hosting holiday food drives. (unless previously arranged with the staff). Due to the Coronavirus, our holiday donations procedure has temporarily changed. It is out of an abundance of caution to protect clients, staff, donors and volunteers. Tax-deductible donations in the form of cash or gift cards (Stop and Shop, Big Y, Target, Walmart, etc.) will ensure that families receive the help they need during the holidays. Monetary donations are also welcome. You can donate online or contributions are accepted by mail to the Department of Human Services 23 Priscilla Place Trumbull, CT 06611. Please make checks payable to “Trumbull Human Services,” memo line is optional: food pantry, emergency financial assistance, or home delivered meals. 100% of your donation goes directly to helping meet the basic needs of Trumbull Residents.
Food Pantry Donations: It is with our most heartfelt thanks to the Trumbull community for the support of our Trumbull food pantry. The response to your neighbor’s needs has been a real success! At this the time, the pantry is overflowing (past capacity) with wonderful items form your donations. There are only a few items that we continually need. Social Services is in the office and continues to work with clients. Social Services assists with general counseling, information and referral, caregiver benefits and guidance, state and federal benefit screenings, Medicare counseling and heating and financial assistance. (203) 452-5198
